Shipping a Caravan

Shipping a caravan is not a simple task. It is an expensive process. If you are sending a caravan you must contact a courier to organise the postage and delivery.

Firstly, contact the courier directly. They will have a list of all the required postage documentation that will need to be attached to the caravan for transport. A signature will be required on collection. The courier will come and collect the caravan.

Then, the owner will need to obtain a signature on delivery to confirm the caravan has been delivered. The courier will need to be paid for the postage. The owner will need to pay for the shipping or the courier company will charge the customer. It is recommended to pay for the shipping up front to save the hassle.

The owner will need to check the condition of the caravan and make sure it is in good condition and all necessary parts and components are inside the caravan.

It is not advisable to send a caravan during the winter months, as it is more difficult to move the caravan. It is also not advisable to send a caravan during the summer months as it is more expensive to move the caravan. The best time to send the caravan is during the spring and autumn months.

If you are interested in sending a caravan, you must contact a courier as they will have the right delivery information and can provide you with a postage quote. The owner will need to discuss the shipping with the courier to work out the best possible solution to transport the caravan.

It is also advisable to contact a courier even before purchasing a caravan to avoid any problems with shipping a caravan.

Shipping a caravan internationally

If you are planning to transport a caravan to another country, you need to consider a number of things such as:

Insurance

You need to know what you are covered for. Carriers have their own insurance policies, which are different depending on the country of origin.

In some cases, if you are transporting a caravan from Australia to the United Kingdom, the insurance will cover damage or theft from the time of departure from Australia to the time of arrival in the United Kingdom.

In most cases, the carrier will take on the responsibility of insurance, but you should always check with the carrier to ensure you are aware of what you are covered for.

You should also check the insurance of the carrier you are using before you ship your caravan.

Goods and Services Tax (GST) and other taxes

You will have to pay GST on the value of your caravan. If you are transporting a caravan from Australia to the United Kingdom, you may have to pay import VAT, depending on the country you are delivering to.

Import VAT is usually charged on the value of the caravan, so you need to factor this into your budget.

Caravan registration

In most countries, you need to register your caravan before you can use it. In Australia, there is a simple process for registering a caravan, but in other countries it can be a lengthy and complex process.

Driving licenses

In some countries, you need a driver’s license to drive a caravan. In Australia, you need to have an Australian driver’s license to drive a caravan.

VAT

If you are posting a caravan from Australia to the United Kingdom, you may have to pay VAT on the caravan.
